  • FOUNDING ATTORNEY

John W. Beck, a tenacious criminal defense attorney in Baldwin County, Alabama, has built a powerhouse practice exclusively focused on defending clients against serious state and federal charges, including DUI, drug offenses, murder, homicide, domestic violence, sex crimes, white-collar crimes, and more. With over 30 years of experience, he graduated from Auburn University in 1988 with a business degree, minor in mathematics, and engineering coursework, before earning his law degree from Regent University. During law school, he worked in South Alabama's cotton fields on crop optimization, cementing his ties to the region and community.

Starting as a prosecutor in the Baldwin County District Attorney's Office in 1995, Beck handled child sex-abuse, domestic violence, and juvenile cases before launching his own firm in 1998, dedicated solely to criminal defense. He has tried over 100 jury trials with exceptional success, driven by relentless preparation, client loyalty, and commanding courtroom presence—securing acquittals, dismissals, and reduced charges in hundreds of cases.

Renowned for results, Beck is respected by peers, prosecutors, and judges as a leader in Alabama's legal community. His roles include President of the 400+ member Baldwin County Bar Association, President of the Baldwin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Regional Vice President and Vice President of the Alabama Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Secretary/Treasurer of the Mobile Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Honors include induction as a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers in 2016 (one of a select few nationwide), AV Distinguished rating from Martindale-Hubbell, inclusion in Best Lawyers in America since 2010, and recognition in America's Most Honored Lawyers Top 1%.

A frequent guest on Law Call and lecturer on trial practice, Beck has innovated by collaborating with a Hollywood screenwriter to integrate storytelling into trial strategies. His track record shines in high-profile wins: acquitting Eric Buzbee of capital murder after three trials, securing dismissal of murder charges against Steve Nodine, and delivering rapid not-guilty verdicts in cases like Danny Hamilton's sex abuse trial and numerous others involving sodomy, assault, and manslaughter.
